Me & My Approach
My journey as a therapist is deeply intertwined with my lived experience as a Black queer disabled woman. I bring to our work a background in advocating for vulnerable communities experiencing domestic violence, homelessness, substance use, and disability. Through my professional training and lived experience, I have developed a personal understanding of how our socio-political, economic, and cultural environments impact our mental health and well-being.
Our work together will be a collaborative journey that integrates psychodynamic, narrative, and somatic therapies. We will:
Explore how your past experiences, relationships, and social context shape your present, while building new understanding and patterns that serve your healing.
Examine the stories you've been told about yourself and your experiences, working to craft narratives that center your strength and agency.
Attend to your body's wisdom, by working with your nervous system to build capacity for regulation and resilience.
These approaches are woven together within a liberation-oriented framework that:
Acknowledges the impact of systemic oppression on your mental health
Validates & centers the wisdom you've gained through your own lived experience
Supports you in defining healing on your own terms
Celebrates resistance, resilience, and radical self-love
